Why This Work Matters To Me
My path into mediation has been shaped by both professional and personal experience of family transition.
Over many years I have supported women, children and families navigating separation, conflict and significant life change. Through this work I have seen first-hand the impact that unresolved conflict can have on individuals, relationships and, most importantly, children.
I believe families deserve opportunities to resolve difficulties with dignity, respect and compassion wherever possible. Mediation offers a space for constructive conversations, helping people move forward while keeping the needs of their family at the centre of decision-making.
About Tara Flynn — Family Mediator, Whitstable, Kent

My Approach
Family separation is rarely just a legal or practical process. It is also an emotional transition that can affect communication, relationships, confidence and wellbeing.
Alongside my mediation training, I hold a Level 5 Diploma in Yoga Therapy with a specialism in child and adolescent mental health. I am also trained in trauma-informed practice, safeguarding and domestic abuse awareness and am a qualified Kent Domestic Abuse Champion.
My professional background has involved supporting children and families through separation, family conflict and significant life transitions.
In practice, this means I am able to recognise when people are becoming overwhelmed, defensive or withdrawn and help maintain a calm and constructive environment where meaningful conversations can take place.
Mediation is not therapy and I remain fully impartial throughout the process. However, my wider background allows me to bring additional understanding and sensitivity to situations involving conflict, distress and difficult communication.
